Do you need to document your SQL Server database? Data Dictionary Creator from Jon Galloway may be able to help you out with this tedious task. I had the app downloaded and working in about 15 minutes.
Quick Start:
1. Download the application and run the DataDictionaryCreator executable.
2. Point to the database of your choice. And here’s a tip: I’m nearly certain you need SA access to the database due to the use of SMO – SQL Server Management Objects.
3. On the Edit Tab, provide table and column descriptions.
4. On the Setup Tab, Export the documentation to Word, Excel, HTML or XML. I tried both Excel and Word. The column descriptions appeared, but table descriptions were missing.
