All of my work and data used to reside solely on my laptop.  Files were versioned and backed up, but I didn’t need to maintain copies on multiple machines.  Life was easy.  No synching was required.

But I started working from home recently and my preferences began to change.  Since I’m no longer as reliant upon my laptop (and lugging it to and from the office any longer) I’m now partial to my desktop machine.  I haven’t abandoned my laptop altogether.  To the contrary, I’m still using it quite a bit which means synching is now required.

Here are a couple of things I’ve done to get over this small hurdle:

1. I am using FolderShare to keep my bookmarks, WLW drafts and a few projects in synch.  Thanks for the tip, Jon.

2. I have enabled RSS Bandit’s Remote Feed List Storage feature.  This feature lets me share my feed list and read/unread status for posts between both computers via FTP.  You may find more about this feature here

I’m sure there are other things I could do but these minor steps are helping out a ton.  And when times get really tough, I always have my USB memory stick…

  1. Hi there,

are you still using FolderShare? Everything working fine? I’m asking because I think about using it, too..

    Have a nice day,
    Andreas

Yes, I’m still using FolderShare. So far, so good. I haven’t encountered any issues yet, but I’m also using it at a limited capacity.
